It is a magnificent building with a majestic look and spacious area. It was built in the classical Greek Style in 1833 to house the library of the Royal Asisatic Sociery, a museum and general hall of assembly. The building is situated at a very small distance from Hutatma Chowk (Flora Fountain). Col. Thomas Cowper of the Bombay Engineers prepared the plan for this Massive building. The main façade of the structure is 250 feet wide and 100 feet deep. Special feature of this building is an artistic use of beautiful Columos in the Construction.
