Flora Fountain
A new era of developing Mumbai into an ideal Port-city, with all the useful infrastructure for trade, commerce and industry, commenced only after 1860, during the period of two Governors namely Lord Elphinstone and Sir Bartle Frare.
Flora fountain was created in the year 1869 in honour of the Governor Sir Bartle Frare. Planning of the Square was designed by Norman Saw, anarchitect of Great Britain and the beautiful sculpture of the Roman Deity was made by James Forsythe. It was sculpted in Portland stone. Originally the Square was called as Frare Fountain but later on it was named as Flora Fountain.
