If you own your own business, there are numerous ways you can not only promote your business on the web, but within your community as well in order to generate more income for your company.
Whether you own a small business in a specific town or city, or if you’re hoping to branch out your business to different cities, states or countries, here are five ways you can easily promote your business for cheap or for no cost at all:
1.   Set up a business profile on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter
This point may seem fairly obvious, but it can’t be stressed enough. Not having a profile on LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter could essentially mean you are missing out on attracting potential customers to your business. You should also take advantage of these social media sites by starting groups or conversations related to a specific product or service you are offering as well.

2.   Set up a listing in a search engine directory
Google.com/local, Bing.com/local and listings.local.yahoo.com are all sites that will allow you to include the link to your website along with your business description so visitors can easily find your company when searching through the online directories.
3.    Submit articles to newspapers, magazines and websites
Another great way to promote your business not only on the web but in your community or other communities as well, is to write an article summarizing what your business is about and then submitting it to various publications in your area. (Make sure that the article includes your phone number, business name and your name as well).
4.  Offer to be a speaker
If you have a lot of experience in your field, then why not ask any related organizations, business groups or even schools and libraries if they are looking for an expert speaker to conduct meetings at their location? You can not only gain more publicity for your business, but gain more contacts as well.
5.  Upload videos on Youtube
Besides Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, YouTube is another popular social media site that could attract hundreds or even thousands of new customers to your business if you use it correctly. Sign up for a profile and make sure you write a full description of your company, and then record yourself talking about the various services or products you are providing and then upload it onto the site.
